World Sight Day 2023 was observed by Lions Club of Imphal on 12th October 2023 (Thursday) by handing over spectacles to the residents of Chanura Leikol Children Home, Khurai. The inmates who require spectacles were identified during the Eye-Screening Camp held at the same venue on 8th October 2023, Lions World Service Day. Immediate Past President of the Club, Lion Dr. P. Brajamani gave a talk on keeping healthy eyes and simple precautionary measures that can be taken to assure good eyesight for the benefit of the inmates of Chanura Leikol Children Home. He emphasised on the need to keep good eyes as it increases the productivity of a person by around 22 percent.
Later, the Club distributed awareness pamphlets issued by International Association for Prevention of Blindness (IABP) on this year’s theme “Love Your Eyes at Work” to the Children Home and also to a few offices as part of the observance.
